Spring is finally here and the sun’s shining! However, you need to forget all that and stay indoors as there’s a load of big video games coming soon. Shopomo is here to bring you a round-up of all the biggest and best titles.
We’ve got reboots of old classics such as Doom, which looks bigger, bolder and bloodier. There’s also the third installment of the notoriously difficult Dark Souls series which is sure to test your patience as you will die a lot.
Read on for the must-own games coming this spring:
Dark Souls III
Developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco, this is the fourth installment of the critically acclaimed ‘Souls’ series.
Set in a medieval fantasy world, the player must battle with a horde of demonic monsters and dragons to save kingdoms from a rising of the undead.
Be warned as the ‘Souls’ games are not for the faint-hearted. The difficulty is grueling and unforgiving. Prepare to die, A LOT.
Ratchet and Clank
Blast off for an incredible adventure that’s out of this world!
Ratchet and Clank are two of PlayStation’s greatest heroes. Join them along with Captain Qwark and other new friends as they battle to save the Solana Galaxy from the evil Chairman Drek.
This game marks the duo’s debut on the PlayStation 4 and is a re-imagining of the first game in the series that came out in 2002 on the PS2. It also ties in with the Ratchet and Clank movie that’s also coming to cinemas this month.
From the creators of Borderlands comes this new first-person shooter.
The universe teeters on the brink of extinction and only the most powerful Battleborn can stop it. A band of true badasses who will slice swords through enemies, fire massive machine guns, sling powerful spells and much more! Command 25 unique heroes. Fight alone or alongside friends.
You’ll be able to play story missions or mow down foes in competitive multiplayer matches. It promises to be epic!
Without doubt the most anticipated game on this list. Uncharted 4 sees the return of Nathan Drake, the roguishly charming treasure hunter who’s travels the world seeking fame and fortune.
Uncharted 4 takes place several years after the last adventure, with Nathan Drake now retired from the treasure hunting game. However, Drake is forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes much more personal, Drake embarks on his greatest adventure in a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure.
Uncharted 4 is set to be the PlayStation 4’s marquee game. If you’ve yet to play the previous 3 games, you can catch up now with the ‘Uncharted Collection’.
Doom is a reboot of the 1993 video game of the same name that will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the most significant and influential titles in the video games industry. It’s the original first-person shooter. Without Doom, there’d be no Call of Duty or Halo today.
Doom is all about ‘badass demons, big effing guns and moving really fast’. You’re a marine that has to defend an outpost on Mars from the forces of hell with a huge arsenal of weapons. Many classic weapons, including the super shotgun and BFG 9000, will make a return.
We can’t wait to get our hands on this one.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan
This is the video game TMNT fans have been waiting for! Play as the 4 legendary turtles: Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo.
Shredder and the Foot Clan have returned to New York City, declaring war on the Turtles and their allies in a final effort to take over the city, with General Krang, Armaggon, Bebop and Rocksteady, Karai, Wingnut and Slash tasked with causing crime, death and chaos. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, along with their allies April O’Neil and Master Splinter, are the only ones who stand between the Foot and their conquest of the entire city.
The combat is fast paced and silky smooth and the game itself looks gorgeous with the cel-shaded art style.
Heroes in a half-shell, turtle power!
Mirror's Edge Catalyst
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is a first-person action-adventure game in which players take control of Faith Connors as she progresses through a futuristic city called Glass.
Similar to the original Mirror’s Edge, players traverse the city using aspects of urban exploration and parkour movements to complete missions and evade enemies or knock them off of their feet.
The game’s premise has us intrigued and we certainly can’t wait to check it out.
